We need your help!

So I’ve started a Kickstarter page to try and help fund the recording and release of the Luce Trio’s first CD. We’re recording in St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn Heights on October 18th. The music is sounding great, just had a nice show tonight at the Castello Plan in Ditmas Park. Please do take the time to look at our Kickstarter page and donate if you can, every little bit helps us to get it done. Thanks!

Hello! Please take a moment to “like” the Jon De Lucia Group’s facebook page!

Back to School.

Eager to jump back in for fall teaching, please visit my teaching page for info on taking private lessons with me. Will personally be shedding some guitar, along with brushing up on flute and tenor saxophone, a horn I really barely ever touch. It’s always enlightening to pick it up, and I think it will help in overall embouchure flexibility. Time to dig some Lester Young!
In other news, you can see me playing a bunch this month on Zach Lane’s regular gig at Osteria il Paiolo, every Sunday night, in Williamsburg. It’s a great Northern Italian restaurant, we’ll be playing standards and a few italian numbers. Expect more shows from the Luce Trio, and my quartet, in October and November!

Time to fish.

I’ve waited too long to fish this year, but finally the time has come. I’ll be heading up to the Croton Reservoir, where our drinking water here in the city comes from, and tying on a fly or two before I go to teach some of my younger students who are staying up state for the summer. A lovely combination.

Meanwhile I am planning our show at Freddy’s next week, with a band consisting of Nir Felder, Garth Stevenson and Tommy Crane. This is not my usual band, but we will be playing some of the same original music. I have been listening to a lot of Paul Bley as I am reading Time will Tell, his book of interviews with Norman Meehan. Getting into his ideas makes me want to open up the set a bit next week, where it has been a little more structured in recent shows. With this band that shouldn’t be a problem!

Tonight I will be attending Chris Speed’s Skirl Records party at Littlefield, where my co-worker in wine, Travis LaPlante, will be performing his solo set. Please check him out! He’s an amazing saxophonist.

Crawfish Boil this Saturday, The Local 269 on Sunday.

Last night’s show with the Luce Trio at Sycamore went really well, thanks to those that came out. Shifting gears from classical music, I will be leading an old time dixieland trio this Saturday, June 4th, to accompany the 2nd annual Crawfish Boil at Sycamore again in Ditmas Park. Joining me will be Aidan O’Donnell on bass, and Jason Nazary on drums. I’m going to try and play soprano for the whole show, which runs from 3-7. Hope the chops hold up! Should be a fun time with crawfish for all!

The next day, I will be playing with my group at The Local 269 at 9 pm. It will be our first time playing at this venue, please come out and support us. The band will include Greg Ruggiero, Clay Schaub and Flin Van Hemmen.
Have a great beginning of summer everyone.
